A key figure in traditional jazz in Europe, Guillaume Nouaux has been keeping the musical heritage of New Orleans alive for nearly thirty years. A drummer who has received multiple awards from the Académie du Jazz and the Hot Club de France for his personal projects, all deeply rooted in the distinctive “New Orleans Touch”, he has collaborated with numerous New Orleans musicians, devoted several albums as well as a book to this musical culture, and is now regarded as one of the leading ambassadors of this tradition.
Building on his regular trio, joined by singer Amandine Cabald-Roche, he conceived New Orleans Celebration as a flexible musical project, with the music of New Orleans as its common thread, in the true spirit of the city.
Blues, ragtime, traditional jazz, parade rhythms and more contemporary compositions come together in a repertoire that draws on the roots of this music while leaving room for new inspirations.
